A clueless clairvoyant. A mysterious murder. And an old enemy who has put a dark plan into motion …
London, 1899 — Lucy James, Sherlock Holmes’s daughter and detective partner, is sought out by one Miss Shepperton — a distraught young woman who believes her elderly, wealthy aunt has become the target of a would–be swindler. The aunt has been visiting a fortune teller by the name of Miss Yolanda, who seems to have taken an all–too–keen interest in the old woman — and her fortune.
Lucy visits Miss Yolanda herself, and quickly determines the mysterious medium is not all that she claims to be. But she has hardly begun to investigate when Miss Shepperton’s aunt is found brutally murdered in her bed. Miss Yolanda is the prime suspect. But then, she vanishes without a trace …
The Baker Street team takes up the case, determined to follow the clues and catch the killer. When a second body is found, new leads open up, revealing a dark and twisted plot none of them could have foreseen. At the center of the plot is an old enemy, with a new and dastardly scheme.
The team soon finds themselves in a life–and–death–battle of wits they must win at all costs. When a disastrous turn of fortune befalls one of their own, they must act quickly before it’s too late. Will they save their friend, unravel the mystery, and defeat the fiend once and for all? Or will it their hopes for success disappear into thin air?
