The cover of the accompanying booklet does not feature a picture of Al but a rather bizarre drawing of red Olympic rings with blue smiley faces drawn inside them. 1984 was an Olympic year, but the obi and title were meant to parody those of the Japanese release of The Official Music Of The XXIIIrd Olympiad — Los Angeles 1984. The one brand new exclusive track is the “karaoke mix of “Eat It. Most likely used to help create the Japanese version of the song (which contains a new Japanese lead vocal…. NOT done by Al!), it would later resurface as a bonus track on the Japanese release of The Food Album. Another rarity is the extended version of “I Lost on Jeopardy remixed by Randy Cunningham, which had previously appeared on an American 12“ promo single. This album and a German 12 single are the only other releases the track has appeared on. Underneath the title on the front cover appears the subtitle “Al Hits Tokyo. For years, it was assumed that the phrase was part of the album’s title. However, that phrase does not appear anywhere else on the jacket, disc or liner notes. Since the cover is meant to parody Life magazine, it can be assumed that the caption was added as a take on many of Life’s garden variety covers. YEAR: 2004
