Ramones is the debut studio album by the American punk band Ramones, released April 23rd 1976 by Sire Records. The album was recorded in January 1976 in seven days for $6400. Ramones peaked at number 111 on Billboard and though commercially unsuccessful, it received positive reviews from critics. It is widely regarded as being an early establisher of the genre of punk rock. In 2012 the album was preserved by the National Recording Registry, deeming it “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant. First pressings of this album can be identified by two typos on the A–side label. The first being “Blitzkreig Bop instead of “Blitzkrieg Bop, and the second being “Beat Is On The Brat instead of“Beat On The Brat. Later pressing have these typos corrected.
