Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Sgt. Pepper for short) is the eighth studio album by the British band [a82730], released on May 26, 1967 in the United Kingdom. Including the compilation album A Collection of Beatles Oldies, it was their ninth album to be released in the UK. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the album was released on May 30, 1967, and it was their twelfth album released there, including two compilation albums. On June 1, 1967, it was released in the United States as the group’s 14th album. As stipulated in The Beatles’ new contract, EMI’s US subsidiary, Capitol Records, was required to release it without changes. The album is considered one of the first pop music concept albums and a milestone of the genre. With over 32 million copies sold, it is one of the world’s best–selling music albums.
